Khenpo Tsering Phuntsok began his studies in his village nested in the Himalayan foothills at age 11. At 16, he moved to India to further his education and knowledge of Buddhist practice.

In 2003, Khenpo's deep commitment to preserving Tibetan Buddhist culture brought him to begin in participating in cultural exchange programs through NGO's connected to the universities in the United States. He acted as the host, translator, and guide for many Westerners in the Dharmsala region making it accessible to those who wished to gain entry into the richness of the region's people and spirituality. 

 

In 2009, he began traveling to the West with his abbot's blessings. Khenpo has brought his teaching to Germany, Italy, Denmark, the UK, and the United States. He started to regularly visit the United States in 2010 through visiting scholar visas lecturing at stateside universities, colleges, Dharma centers and churches.
